DAY 13 JUNE 29 ST. JOHN'S

OK, we have now reached the correct day of our departure. We caught a cab to the airport driven by a friendly lady. In conversation with her she told us her partner was one of 22 kids! I began to wonder what his Mother did in her spare time? We had time to kill before our flight departed so I had my final pint of Iceberg Beer

Reflecting on the holiday, the one thing that stood out above all was the people. Everywhere we went we were greeted by friendly, considerate a good humoured Newfoundlanders. Strangers would speak to you in the street. Such a contrast to Toronto. Our Eight Day McCarthy's tour was made particularly enjoyable and memorable by our guide John Warren. You couldn't wish to meet and be in the company of a nicer man.
Until one visits the Island you then begin to realize the size of it. One can expect long drives in order to explore its coastal gems. The weather can be changeable from day to day and most days are accompanied by wind. During our stay it even snowed in the central regions.
It was a wonderful experience and I conclude if the world was full of Newfoundlanders it would be a much much better place.
